HALDI
Sunday, October 13 at 12pm
Join us for a casual daytime event to ease into the festivities and brush off that jet lag! We’ll have an Indian lunch in the garden, music, and of course….haldi! (non-Indians, see this Cultural Guide for more detailed FYI's and tips around the cultural customs)
Location - Quinta de São Tadeu
Attire - Haldi ceremonies are known for their lively/colorful atmosphere so we suggest wearing bright cheerful colors. Theme is yellow, orange, pink, green, or red so feel free to incorporate pops of those. Some online stores have pages specifically for Haldi styles so feel free to browse for inspo (example here). Indian or Western is fine for this and feel free to be casual and comfortable!

SANGEET
Sunday, October 13 at 7:00pm
Recharge and head back to Quinta de São Tadeu in your party fit! We'll have cocktail hour in the garden and then head into the tent for an evening of Indian food, music, performances and immaculate energy. Comfortable shoes for dancing and a willingness to get silly will be key. 😁
Location - Quinta de São Tadeu
Attire - The Sangeet is a colorful event, so bring out the vibrant colors! For women think lehengas, sarees, anarkali suits or Western cocktail attire. For men kurtas and sherwanis are typical or dark suits. If you're non-Indian and interested in dipping your toe into Indian fashion, this is definitely the event to do it and we highly encourage it! See the FAQ page for shopping recs.

CEREMONY & LUNCH
Monday, October 14 at 10am
Shuttles will be provided to take guests from Sintra to the Gurdwara where the ceremony will be held. The pickup location will be adjacent to the NH Sintra Centro Hotel in the historic center. Everyone will arrive to the Gurdwara about 30 minutes before the ceremony starts with enough time to remove shoes, cover heads and get settled in the prayer room.
After the ceremony concludes, everyone will get back on the shuttles for a short drive to Correio Mor Palace. As everyone heads inside we'll have a different spin on what will admittedly be Karan's favorite part of the wedding — the Baraat! Traditionally this takes place before the wedding but we'll use this time for family and friends to usher him into his first function as a married man and HYPE HIM UP! Nothing is too extra. Afterward we'll gather in the garden for a Persian Sofreh Aghd ceremony and then conclude with lunch.
Locations -
Baraat & Ceremony - Gurdwara Sikh Sangat Sahib Lisboa
Sofreh followed by lunch - Correio Mor Palace
Attire - The Lisbon Gurdwara requires that all guests have arms and legs fully covered. For women Indian suits or modest western outfits are both appropriate — something comfortable for floor sitting. Bringing a sweater or leggings to remove after the ceremony is an option! For men kurta pyjamas, sherwanis or slacks/long-sleeve button down are all options. This is moderately casual.
Before entering the Gurdwara, guests will need to remove their shoes/socks and cover their heads. Everyone will be seated on the floor for the ceremony. We will provide ramals (bandanas) for men. Women, be sure to bring a shawl/scarf though we will have some as well. For more details and suggestions for attire for this check out the FAQ!
